Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create an account?

Click on the “Get Started” button on the top of the page to create a a free account.

Are there any fees?

Yes, but it is very low. Each contribution, grant, or charity gift must be at least $20. There is no ongoing minimum balance requirement to maintain your Kadogo Fund.

Is Kadogo Secure?

We employ bank-level security practices to ensure that 100% of the money you set aside for charity makes it to the causes you support. We collect the bare minimum of data needed, store it securely, and constantly evolve our security measures.

What is the difference between a contribution and a grant?

A contribution is the donation of cash or other assets to your personal charitable giving fund on Kadogo. Contributions that you make to your fund are tax-deductible, unless they are a transfer from another donor-advised fund. Once you have contributed to your fund, you can make grants to any of the over registered nonprofits or tax-deductible organizations in the IRS database. This allows you to decide when and how much tax deductible giving you want to do during a given tax year, without having to commit to specific charitable causes or a giving timeline.

How do I link my bank account, debit card, or credit card?

Kadogo supports three methods for adding your bank account, “Instant verification”,  “Deposit verification, and Card Linking”. Learn more below about these three types of verifications, and which will work best for your bank.

Kadogo supports 3 methods to add your bank account, “Instant verification” and “Deposit verification”.

Instant verification is provided by our banking partner Plaid and offers a seamless experience to authenticate your bank using your banks user name, password, and when applicable two-factor authentication. Not all banks work with Plaid and sometimes instant verification doesn’t work because of this. We recommend using deposit verification in those circumstances

Card Linking is provided by our banking partner FidelUK and offers a seamless experience to authenticate your debit and or credit card using your banks cards 16 digit card number and expiration date. Card Linking works with the big three card carriers in the United States, which are Visa, Mastercard, and Amex.

Deposit verification is done by us making 2 deposits under $0.10 into your account that will arrive in 1-2 business days. These are facilitated through our ACH banking partner PLAID and will show up as from Kadogo Inc., our technology partner.

Regardless of the method you choose you can make contributions and grants the same day. When using deposit verification we will queue up your contributions and they will begin processing once your account has been verified. In the case of instant verification they will begin processing immediately.

Can I invest the money in my fund?

Right now, we’re not offering the ability for donors to invest the money in their funds. We’re doing that in the background, allowing us to provide you with free Kadogo funds that have no management or transaction fees. We also believe that allowing users to invest their contributions provides a disincentive to making grants to charitable causes. However, we are considering future plans to allow you to recommend investments for your contributions.

Give some. Gain more.

Can I make donations through Kadogo without ever leaving the money in my fund?

Yes! 🙌

Can I place my families name and or significant other on my fund?

Kadogo technically is a donor-advised fund, but it doesn’t act like a traditional DAF. Most DAFs have minimum opening balances and annual or service fees. We have none of that. In our case, we provide your fund for free — no fees whatsoever.  We’re a DAF for everyone.

How does Kadogo differ from Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)?

Kadogo has removed the minimum funding requirement which is usually $25,000 per account. Kadogo believes everyone deserves a donor advised fund.
